When radio frequency and helium gas are combined, real plasma is created – an energy beam that is self-limiting and cools down again. The surgeon can use the resulting plasma to cut or process the tissue. Thus, the subcutaneous tissue and the skin can be tightened with this plasma.
Since the work is done with energy and heat, the whole process is often called “internal heating”. The application of heat leads to a contraction of skin and connective tissue as an immediately visible result after the procedure and in the longer term also to an increased new formation of collagen and thus to a visible, significant tightening of skin and connective tissue after 5 to 9 months.
Loose skin and connective tissue is generally widespread. Mostly genetic, but also after pregnancies or after a large loss of weight or with an increase in lived time, sagging and loose skin is often a problem. Unfortunately, previous methods in aesthetics have been rather limited in this aspect and therefore in many cases could not provide the desired results. Depending on the quality of the skin, for example, in liposuction procedures with too loose skin, expected dents, irregularities or sagging skin were a limiting factor for performing such a liposuction. Often, the only option left after liposuction was a tightening operation with large visible scars.

In most cases a Renuvion® treatment is carried out following liposuction. This takes place either under local or general anaesthesia. After the liposuction is completed, those areas that require additional and significant skin and connective tissue tightening are treated with Renuvion®.
If a Renuvion® treatment is carried out without preceding liposuction, the area to be treated is simply infiltrated with an anaesthetic solution via small accesses and thus anaesthetised.
After a certain waiting period, the Renuvion® treatment is then carried out in this area. A probe is moved through the tissue and the desired plasma energy is released when the probe is withdrawn. The tissue is heated up to 85 degrees Celsius for a short time and immediately cooled down again with the help of helium gas, so that no burns occur in the tissue. The treatment with Renuvion® takes about 20-45 minutes per area.
If Renuvion® is combined with liposuction, the aftercare is the same as after liposuction. So a compression girdle has to be worn for 4-6 weeks.
If Renuvion® therapy alone is performed under local anaesthesia, a compression girdle must be worn for about 2 weeks.
In most cases a tightening effect is already visible immediately after the treatment, further improvements will be seen in the course of the next 6 – 9 months.
