The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a combination procedure of liposuction including body shaping and an autologous fat transfer for volume therapy in the buttocks. Using the gentle VASER® Lipo method, the required fat is suctioned out of areas of the body where you want fat removed, such as the abdomen, thighs or hips. As a desired side effect, these areas also take on a more beautiful shape. This fat is then transferred to the buttocks by lipofilling at Lipoaesthetic in Munich to enlarge and round off the buttocks.
The advantage of the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is, of course, that your body’s own resources can be used to shape or enlarge your bottom with autologous fat. Furthermore, the autologous fat in the buttocks feels and looks much more natural than when using implants.
Additionally, only very small incisions are made so that no visible scars are left behind. The transferred fat will also behave more naturally in the event of future weight gain or loss in your buttocks as well as your other fatty tissue.

A buttock augmentation with autologous fat is always performed under anaesthesia, because local infiltration of anaesthetics has a negative effect on the vitality and survival rate of the fat cells. In order to achieve a good survival rate during fat transfer, an anaesthetic is therefore mandatory during the operation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, an inpatient stay is not necessary.
First of all, a butt lift at Lipoaesthetic in Munich is used to remove the fat tissue from the areas that are suitable for it. This can be done on the stomach, waist, hips and thighs.
The suctioned fat is extracted in a sterile circuit, cleaned, filtered and then manually reinserted into the buttocks through very small incisions with a special lipofilling cannula as part of the lipotransfer procedure. Under visual control, the buttocks can then be shaped according to the patient’s wishes. A more posterior or a more lateral projection or both are possible. A lifting effect is created because the volume of fat introduced tightens and lifts the bottom slightly. This effect is naturally all the more visible the more fat is transferred.
You will be able to transfer as much autologous fat as is available and can be removed in other zones. Of course, with the Brazilian Butt Lift, we discuss with the patient in advance what your wish is and what is feasible.
The amount of fat transferred to the buttocks is also not the decisive factor. The desired butt shape can sometimes be achieved with just 200 ml of autologous fat per side, in other cases 600-800 ml per side is required. This is also related to the different anatomical proportions of each figure. The procedure is therefore always very individually tailored to the individual patient.
The goal must always be a nice rounding of the buttocks and a nice curved and S-shaped contour from waist to hips and buttocks to thighs.
The result is permanent, as the autologous fat introduced in this area grows by about 75% and then behaves normally like your fatty tissue in other parts of the body. In the first days/weeks after filling, the buttocks lose some more volume due to the reduction of the swelling and after approx. 7 weeks you can see how much of the inserted fat will then remain permanently, as all fat cells have grown in by then.
With weight gain the bottom becomes bigger and with weight loss correspondingly smaller. The volume of the autologous fat introduced can therefore vary. It is not a fixed “implant” which always shows the same volume, regardless of whether you weigh more or less.
So if you are satisfied with your buttocks after a BBL at Lipoaesthetic in Munich, you should avoid losing weight after the operation, because otherwise you will also lose volume in the area of the buttocks. On the other hand, the transferred autologous fat gives you beautiful soft and natural buttocks.
The follow-up after a Brazilian Butt Lift is not much different from liposuction. A compression girdle must be worn for about 4 – 6 weeks.
However, there is a clear difference in the area of the buttocks. In the first two to three weeks after the procedure, this area must not be subjected to prolonged and constant pressure. Sitting directly on the buttocks should be avoided and in any case sleeping on the back. Otherwise, you can sleep on your side or on your stomach, or when sitting, use the back of your thighs.
For your safety, we do not fill the autologous fat into the muscle area during lipofilling on the buttocks, but only between muscle and skin into the natural fat layer already present there. This is an absolutely safe zone which cannot endanger your health.
With very large butt lifts with a lot of volume transfer, fat is sometimes also transferred into the muscle area. This intramuscular infiltration was mainly performed in the USA and South America, but also here in Europe. However, since this technique has led to increased complications after the procedure, such as thrombosis and embolisms, surgical societies worldwide have long been warning against fat injection into the muscle area.
We at Lipoaesthetic in Munich naturally follow this recommendation.
